The Case of Gretta Conners:”Staring at a Felt Ceiling” // The Myyyyyke Flahertyyyy Remixes

“Drinks drank down…maybe I should go now to the unknown; my heartbeat won’t slow down. Creeping in lights illuminate my access, taking my chances in a city crowd…”
– Staring at a Felt Ceiling

The Case of Gretta Conners (now known as Ani Called Alpha) was first opened by video artist Stevie Ce. in 2003. Originally an experimental vehicle for Steve’s video work, it became something much more intense. As time progressed the project matured into what it is today: Accessible, fun music with layers of complexity to thrill the ear as well as the mind; toe-tapping, head bopping art. Sonically influenced by the synth-pop sounds of the 80’s, the emotional throws of 70’s post-punk, and the simple beauty of 60’s garage rock, The Case of Gretta Conners creates a truly unique, smooth hybrid for the 21st century.” (taken from the CGC13 website)

In 2008 multiple remixes of the band’s single “Staring at a Felt Ceiling” was remixed by gothic dance party extraordinaire, Myyyyke Flahertyyyyy.  Both the “Testudo” and “Lepus” remixes can be downloaded below.

For curiosity seekers, the original CGC version of the track is here at their myspace page.

Stevie Ce is host of Long Island electronic dance weekly, The Eject Party.

“I can’t believe people still even like stuff like this, let alone get excited about it…”
– snark comment; RiteSedJed or XmaSafari, 2011
