PRESS RELEASE: “SERVING THE COMMUNITY” is a soundtrack for Terre Haute

PRESS RELEASE — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE “SERVING THE COMMUNITY”
DATE: JANUARY 27th , 2012
CONTACT: (+_m), undernewyork@gmail.com

MUSIC PRODUCER (+_m) IS READY TO RELEASE “SERVING THE COMMUNITY”, THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF THE 2012:47807: PROJECT.

“The city spoke for itself, and I would not have been able to record these people and their contributions anywhere else in the world. This is literally the sound of Terre Haute.”
(+_m), [Spectrum Magazine, Issue #18, 2012]

Produced entirely within the city of Terre Haute, Indiana, “2012:47807:” is the Midwestern offering of the ongoing “2012: Site-Specific” audio project.

Since beginning the work on this segment of the project in 2009, traveling record producer (+_m) has recorded many of the interesting characters who have helped to create his adventure in the city.

This audio collection features contributions from a few dozen individuals who live in, or were simply just passing through, Terre Haute. Some folks added chatter, some sang, and some made noise. All contributed to a unique lexicon of recordings that were then refined and lastly turned into audio tracks that are ready for public consumption.

Physical copies will be available for FREE at the release event in downtown Terre Haute on February 3rd, 2012. The album will also be available for FREE at http://www.2wenty2welveIndustries.com

“We did it here, in Terre Haute.  I must mention that this was not my effort alone; everyone contributed in so many ways, everything from scheduling, recording, releasing, and promoting.  Individual talents are what made this project a completely original work. By letting anyone to participate, and by exclusively recording this project in Terre Haute, we have created an amazing audio product that is distinctly local, and could not have been created anywhere else. I want to note that each participant created their own part. There was no censorship in content or push for the perfect recording take, there was only their desire to express. There were no specifications in terms of what genres and musical styles could be used. Everything that came in was raw and unrehearsed, and then processed into the songs that populate the album.”
(+_m)

To date, the project has produced this double album “Serving the Community”, 3 remix kits, a video EP, 2 maxi-singles, numerous social events & performances, and a flattering amount of passive aggression.

“2012″ is the prefix, and “47807″ is the postal code for Terre Haute where (+_m) and friends currently hold a studio, hence the segment, or “band”, “2012:47807:“.  “2012” can either signify the year this project ends or can be an example of a number that cannot be written as a sum of 3 squares.

You can hear music from the album at the release event “Crow Magnon” on Friday, February 3rd, 2012; 10p.m. at Ole Simrell’s, 804 S. 7th Street in downtown Terre Haute.  The event features performances from The Nerve, The Toys Du Joir, Chris Foote, Rybot, Gigante, TxtBook, & Deek.

(+_m) is available for interviews.

About The Party:
“Finally” is the word that best describes the official release of 2012:47807: “Serving the Community”. Produced by (+_M), and presented by 2wenty2welve Industries, the full length, 2 disc, audio album, is finally ready for public consumption. Three years in the making, the album is an incredibly diverse collection of live recordings and electronic compositions that features 40 people (both musicians and non-musicians) from, or passing through, the city of Terre Haute, IN.

In addition to a wide variety of participants, the album also features a plethora of Terre Haute references including the feel good hit, “Terre Haute Life”. Also included is “Desiderata 2011”, a remake of the Max Ehrmann poem. The whole album is Terre Haute centric.

Previously, (+_M) has released Terre Haute’s 1st and 2nd maxi-singles, featuring remixes and covers from people not only in Terre Haute, but around the country-a first for Terre Haute. (+_M) has also released Terre Haute’s first video EP. Now, he is about to release, what will go down in the Terre Haute lexicon as, the city’s first open source electronic album. Don’t let the word “electronic” turn you off, as we assure you it is much more than “untz untz untz”; it has jazz, saxophones, violins, crows, and so much more.

The party described above is to celebrate the long awaited release of this audio album and boast an eclectic collection of Terre Haute musicians and personalities.

The album features some big names you all may know: A Dante Jonsson , Alice Forehand , Ben Christjansen , Brad Kelly , Brian Lee Whisenhunt , Carl Klarner , Chris Foote , Erik Pearson , Codie Nicholaus Snyder , Dude , David BenJamin , Dustin Funk , Thomas Campbell , Grantley Wells , Jeffrey Beckman , Judy Francis , Kelley McKay , Kenye Fudia SamForay , Lucas Martin , Lucy Burrows , Mark Long , Mark Stalcup , Matthew Wilson , Michael Myers ,Shea Turner , Walter Thomas Beck III , Rite Sed Jed , Robyn Morton , Sara Noe , Sarah Long , Sasha Krasutsky , Scott Novotney , Steve Allen , Steve Martin , The Phantom Blazer , Tim Anderson, Tony Zebrowski , Troy Wilkinson , Umba Maloba , Noah Benjamin Phillips , & XmaSafari.

The work will be broadcast throughout the night and copies will be available.

About the Party:
There are 2 reasons to celebrate and we have decided to wrap it all into one amazing night. The first reason to gather with us is to give a grand sendoff to THE MILL on 13th st., our Terre Haute studio and production house of the last 3 years. While it’s been a great experience and resource for all of us, it is time to say goodbye. For those of you that never made it by, this is your chance to come and enjoy this amazing space with us.

The 2nd reason to celebrate is the Release of 2012:47807:Maxi-Single #2 to the public. This release contains the next 2 singles from the full length 2012:47807: album, “Serving the Community”.

The two maxi-singles to be released are “Klepto Hands” & “Pay for the Party”. A delightful tune about stealing stuff, “Klepto Hands” features vocals by RiteSedJed, UmbaMaloba, & Alice Forehand, with vocal samples from Sasha-K, and turntables by Gigante. “Pay for the Party” is a ballad about dressing for the party and messing for the show, featuring vocals by Dude & Ben Christjansen, with live drums contributions from Chris Foote.
